NAB news: Sony Announces ProRes & DNxHD Recording for the F5 & F55

Sony has just announced that they will be adding two new codecs to the F5 and F55 cameras: Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD. These two formats are the most desired in the industry due to their NLE compatibility and overall quality. Sony already includes some great codecs in the F5 and F55 cameras already, including XAVC, MPEG2, SR Codec, and Raw with the AXS-R5 recorder.

ProRes and DNxHD support will definitely mean a faster workflow for many productions.

As you may already know, I have been offering ProRes and Avid files on my CineAlta F55 since the beginning using my NanoFlash onboard recorder. But this Sony upgrade will definitely provide more connivence.

Now with 10 recording formats available in one camera, there is no reason not to choose my F55 as your all-around-production camera!
